Casserole from a killer

Drama follows Oby wherever she goes, but this time she claims that she’s repented…

-

Oby Phakade (Khabonina Qubeka) is wicked. “She thrives on power and control, and she’s someone to be feared. One could even go as far as saying that she’s a sociopath,” says Khabonina. Oby tried to poison Ayanda (Samela Tyelbooi) numerous times last year so that she could get her hands on a piece of Ayanda’s liver and using dark magic to control Ayanda. “Ayanda unintentionally killed Oby’s brother Jonathan Okiri (Sonnie Chidiebere), Ayanda’s abusive pastor husband.

But Oby’s plan didn’t work. “Oby fled the country after she lost her supernatural powers,” says Khabonina, adding that viewers should brace themselves for the “new” Oby.

BACK AND… BETTER?

But now she’s back, and according to Oby, she’s changed! “She’s born again [born again Christian] and she wants to repent and make amends with Ayanda and all those she hurt,” says Khabonina. “So Ayanda’s penthouse is Oby’s first stop and she gets a cold welcome from Ayanda, her hubby Pele (Andile Nebulane) and daughter

Nontle (Buntu Petse).

“Ayanda is overcome with shock, fear and anger,” says Samela.

OFFERING OF PEACE

Oby comes with a casserole dish in hand, claiming that she’s sorry. “Part of Oby’s born again journey is repenting and gaining the forgiveness of those she’s hurt. She seems to be truly remorseful, but you never know,” Khabonina warns. Rightfully, Ayanda is wary. “She doesn’t believe anything Oby tells her. Ayanda wants to make sure Oby stays very far away,” Samela says, adding that her character won’t be breaking bread anytime soon with Oby. “Ayanda won’t touch the casserole,” which Khabonina adds “may not be the worst idea knowing Oby…”

LAST TIME…

In August last year, Ayanda, Tshidi (Letoya Makhene-Pulumo) and Lucy (Manaka Ranaka) gave Oby a spoilt liver to stop her. Oby lost her powers and control of her husband Gadaffi (Vuyo Dabula), and realising that she was in trouble, Oby took the first flight out of SA.

PREVIOUSLY

Ayanda was shocked when a heated argument with her boss took an unexpected turn, Mbali had a traumatic reaction to the police’s arrival, and Sphe got to say goodbye to her loved ones over the phone.

Winston watches the life drain out of the woman he claims to love, a teenager’s words fall on deaf ears, and Nkosiyabo’s lust for someone might be enough to tempt them into sin. Mazwi isn’t willing to accept the hand of friendship that’s extended to him, and a death weighs heavily on someone’s shoulders. Fikile is instantly suspicious of a secret interaction, there’s great intrigue about who’ll be moving into Gadaffi’s old penthouse, and Mo has had enough and calls out Mbali on her behaviour. Detective Pele can’t understand what’s gotten into his wife, and Pamela pushes hard to secure an exclusive.

Tracy’s interview with Luyolo goes very wrong, and Lefa panics when he can’t wake an unconscious Zondiwe. Ayanda considers shortterm pleasure over long-term security, and Gugu doesn’t waste an opportunity laugh at a former friend’s expense. An arrival at the penthouse causes a stir, Mpho is rattled to hear what his grandmother expects of him, and a couple’s hasty retreat from S’khaftin leaves Lucy wary of things around her. Mbali gets the validation she so desperately craves, and Pele realises that he has been lied to yet again.
