If home is where the heart is, then new lifestyle show Property Brothers: Forever Home will help bring some soul into your house. The series is by design duo twins Jonathan and Drew Scott, and the sibling renovators say that “we wanted to find people who’re already in love with their homes but feel that there’s something missing. We’re helping them find that perfect addition that turns their house into a home.”
What makes this show different to other reno shows is that Jonathan and Drew listen to the homeowners’ stories to find out why their homes mean so much to them and what they feel can be improved on. “It’s not a matter of completely demolishing houses and re-presenting it to them, but making significant changes that still keeps the soul of the house together,” says Jonathan. You see a lot more heart, a lot more of the emotional memories about why they fell in love with their house.” Drew adds that “we want to make it the best home it can possibly be so we can get every homeowner to ugly cry at the end of the episode.”
It’s no easy task improving on something deemed already great in someone else’s eyes, but Jonathan and Drew pull it off in every episode. “We’re doing everything. We go from expanding kitchens and making it the centre hub for the family, to helping a group overhaul their modest home that they use to help foster children,” says Drew. “Your home can make your life easier, but there needs to be something that wells you up inside. Whatever that is, it’s important to the homeowners and that’s what we’re trying to hit in every house we visit.”
