Tracy Morgan’s character Tray has spent three seasons trying to stay on the right life path after being released from prison in comedy series The Last OG. “But it’s hard, man. Staying true to himself means causing a little criminal mischief,” says Tracy, who is the show’s executive producer too. “Season 4 is going to be a lot of fun because Tray is growing up and he’s going to become good. Or at least try to be good,” adds Tracy.
The biggest problem for Tray is going to be trying to uplift his Brooklyn community while seeding out a dangerous new gangster. But Tracy says it’s going to be fun for Tray “because he’s an OG – he’s an Original Gangster and he’s not afraid of anyone. If anything, he’s more afraid of things like stubbing his toe than a tough guy.” Tracy says that he hopes the new season also inspires good in the real world “because there’s a lot of negativity around society. We’ve had a rough few years with the previous president (Donald Trump) and we’re trying to get away from what he wanted the country to be. We’re trying to be multicultural and multidimensional. We try to ‘preach’ that in the show. That you can live with your neighbour in peace and harmony without having to hate them.”
Tracy added a lot of his personal life into the show and season 4 is no different. And he’s in the perfect position to star and write on his show because he’s a Brooklyn man, born and bred. “I know this life because it’s part of who I am and where I come from,” says the 53-year-old. “I’ve never been arrested for being a criminal but I grew up with people who were, I grew up with people who didn’t make it out of this place alive and it’s a travesty. I want our viewers to get hope and laughs from us.”
