RAINT & RAVE

Have your say and tvplus will help where we can!

-

Dear tvplus management,

We have just been shocked by the news that Days Of Our Lives show will be discontinued as from April from e.tv channel, and will be replaced with local content. The same story that was given by SABC before they (e.tv) took over.

We have observed in all the years our tvplus magazine giving a summary update of what’s happening currently in the US on the soapies that were once shown in our country, including Days Of Our Lives.

Although we still remember the names of the characters, it’s difficult to follow the sequence of events given the gap of three years that exists between what is happening in our screens and theirs. For instance, in my current magazine issue, there is a mention of Nicole, whom we know to have died on our local screens.

Our humble request to you, our favourite magazine management, is to consider to help us with a summary of events from year 2019 April, which is where we will be dropped by e.tv channel, and close the gap so as to catch up with the current updates you’re providing us with.

I am making this humble request on behalf of many loyal followers of Days Of Our Lives, particularly the elderly fans in their 70s and above, who have been following the soapie long before the local content existed.

We do understand and have accepted that no other channel in our country will ever give us the opportunity of watching it or even be able to access its recorded shows. We can’t even follow it online via other many online platforms, we therefore humbly request you to at least give us an idea of what followed after its removal from our screens.

A friend told me that tapes are sold in the US but obviously they would be showing where they’re currently, and still wouldn’t be easy to get the distance between the two countries.

Thank you for lending me your ears and am sorry to bother you, we are just so desperate to try to talk to anyone who would care to listen.

Thanks again for the blessing you’re in our lives through this powerful magazine, I can never miss one single issue, we were so devastated during hard Covid restrictions when it was off our shelves. May the team be blessed in abundance. – Your humble customer, Pumza Filtane

Hi Pumza, your message is so special, I couldn’t even bear to cut it! And you gave us a great idea! In our next issue, we will definitely do a big story on where we are left now on our screens and bridge the gap to what’s going on overseas. I would also like to know. Luckily, we have an amazing Days-encyclopedia in the form of Genevieve, our expert writer. She has also watched the show for such a long time (and she’s not that old!), and she will be able to answer all our questions for the story.

I hope that will give you what you need to follow what happens in the US. I see now that there’s devil possession and all sorts of things again (see more on p32) and I can’t wait to read how we got there.

Thanks again for the heartfelt message! It means so much to our team and we’re trying to give our readers content that you want and watch.

Hi all, hope you are all safe and well.

Please I know you guys don’t have much space in the magazine as it’s a lot of things you guys print, but please could I ask that if it’s possible could you print the new soapie Fatmagul? I would really appreciate it and please tell me why Lerumo isn’t in Scandal! anymore. Thanks so much again for your fantastic magazine. It’s the best EVER. – Stella per SMS Hi Stella! Thank you for the kind words. It’s always great knowing our hard work is appreciated. We will certainly look into getting the Fatmagul teasers in the magazine – I can’t promise, but we will try! Sometimes there’s a delay getting the info from overseas through to the local channels that air them.

As for Tshepo Howza Mosese who played Lerumo, he wanted to explore other ventures. Tshepo can still be seen as the host of season 13 of consumer rights show Speak Out, which starts on Sunday 10 April on SABC2 (*192) at 20:30.

Good morning tvplus team.

I refer to my message about asking to air Meerkat Manor again. Yesterday the series Meet The Meerkats started on the Disco-very Channel (DStv *121) as if it was an answer to my request. Amazing!! Thank you so much! I felt the same when I saw the series and remembered the message you’d sent. It’s indeed amazing how some things just fall in place. Enjoy the Meerkats (my youngest daughter always makes me think of one. She will one day turn her head off from pure curiosity to see what is going on). And keep an eye on Discovery for brand-new shows.
