Vicious mama

MaZulu is on the warpath like never before, but it could come back to bite her in the business pocket.

-

“This season, everyone will get to witness a whole new MaZulu whose emotional state is teetering on the edge. Her mind is solely focused on rebellion,” says Leleti Khumalo about her character’s change and transformation in season 5. Tired of everyone around her, whether they’re alive or dead, controlling everything she does, the once-patient MaZulu has had enough and finally snaps. After being chastised by the matriarch of the Bhengu family

MaNdlovu (Thembi Mtshali) for ruining her late hubby Ngcolosi’s (Tony Kgoroge) ritual, MaZulu retaliates by destroying his grave.

“MaZulu, out of utter rage and fury, completely desecrates Ngcolosi’s grave. After years of feeling unaccomplished and under his clasp, she is finally done being the meek and obedient wife.

All she’s ever done when Ngcolosi was alive was take orders from him and she refuses to let him order her around even after he’s dead,” explains Leleti, adding that “MaZulu is at her breaking point and in that moment, she completely loses it does the unthinkable and smashes his final resting place.”

A SHOCKING PROPOSAL

And that’s not where she’s stopping. MaZulu sees a business opportunity when she learns that her Shongololo Oil CEO son

Zithulele (Raphael Griffiths) recently discovered natural gas that can be used to take down her company Maluju Oil. And even though Zithulele and his half-brother Nkululeko (Kay Sibiya), who works for Maluju Oil, have a long-standing feud, MaZulu approaches them with a business idea that leaves the pair stunned. “MaZulu’s huge shocking proposal is that the rival companies form a partnership. Everyone knows about the bad blood between the brothers, so MaZulu putting forth this proposition adds a thrilling twist for everyone working for the two oil giants,” says Leleti, adding that “it’s going to be explosive.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

Leleti’s lips are sealed on how things go down and whether the deal goes ahead, but she promises that it’s going to be fiery and that things could go up in flames. “Relationships will be tested, business are trialled, and faith is challenged. The town of Mbumbulu is a catalyst to many events that will unfold – and MaZulu is at the centre of it all, not letting anyone hold her back!”
