Tanya’s great fall

Tanya’s accident leaves her in hospital, but her recovery time as a patient is far from boring.

-

It’s no secret how in love Tanya (Liezl de Kock) and Werner Visagie (Zak Hendrikz) are – the culture they have in their marriage is enough to make anyone believe in love again. Part of that culture is their love of dance. Whenever they want to feel closer or even escape the pressures of the real world, they will dance with each other.

But while dancing in their apartment there’s an accident and the floor collapses under Tanya, sending her falling onto Aggie (Nobuhle Mimi Mahlasela) at Oppiekoffie below. “The fact that there was a slight earthquake caused the floor to crack and Tanya and Werner were busy dancing. That impacted the pressure on the floor and it collapsed. At this point, Tanya is in so much pain, she’s hurt her ribs and her collarbone,” Liezl tells us. An unconscious Aggie and Tanya are taken off to Hillside Clinic, leaving Werner to blame himself. “Maybe if he hadn’t insisted on them having to dance, they would’ve been fully aware of the earthquake. This whole incident wouldn’t have happened at all!” Zak shares. And it’s just the beginning of something eerie!

PATIENT PRANK

While recovering, Tanya learns that her room is said to be haunted, so she and

Werner plan to prank their son Uys (Daniel Coetzee) and his nurse friend Romeo (Clint Aplon).

“Romeo has heard story upon story about the room that Tanya is in,” says Clint. “Apparently there’s a ghost or old lady spirit lingering there and she wafts around the ward. The poor nurse doesn’t even get a minute to compose himself while checking in on his patient,” adds the actor. “Romeo sees how the machines switch on and off without anyone touching them, items keep disappearing and then re-appearing.”

Romeo knows that Tanya is his priority, so he tries to put his ghost phobia to the side and attend to his patient. “He does his work and gets out quickly,” says Clint, adding that Romeo “goes to chat to his colleague Khethiwe (Sesethu Ntombela) – they consider calling in a real-life ghostbuster!”

But there’s actually a good explanation and Romeo should’ve told Uys. “It’s just Werner was hiding under the bed and pulling the blanket without Tanya moving. Uys switched the light on and off from the bathroom. And Werner then dressed up like an old lady with a black veil on,” Zak laughs. That’s sure to have raised Romeo’s blood pressure, but he’s able to laugh it off… we hope.
