English-dubbed Turkish telenovela Droomverlo­re is the latest Euro-Asian series to fill our screens and it’s taken fans by storm. It follows Sanem (Demet Özdemir) as she works at an agency and ends up falling in love… and finding out the hard way that all that glitters isn’t necessaril­y gold. “Sanem tries to lead by example but she’s got this naivety about her and she’s not always in the right place at the right time, so often she ends up in trouble and needing rescuing,” says 30-yearold Demet.

She’s been in showbiz for more 1 than 20 years, but not as an actress. “I started my career as a dancer and a model. It was fun while it lasted but then i discovered acting,” adds the star who got her first role in Turkish TV series Sana Bir Sir Verecegim in 2013 as Aylin. She also plays Alye Baronez in the telenovela Kurt En Shura that was on eExtra (*195) last month.

She won the 2019 Golden Butterfly 2 Award and Best Actress Award at the 2019 Murex d’Or Awards in Lebanon for her role as Sanem.

She dated her lead 3 co-star Can Yaman on Droomverlo­re but they split up in late 2019. She’s currently single.

Her model good looks got her 4 noticed by haircare brand Pantene in 2019 and she’s been an ambassador for them ever since.

Demet is a fitness fan and she 5 gyms five times a week, saying that “I also do yoga and a lot of swimming.” She also throws in martial arts and boxing to relieve stress.
