Trouble comes calling

Lindiwe is feeling insecure about the late-night calls that her hubby Nhlamulo is getting…

-

Let’s face it, if your partner starts getting random late-night calls from the opposite sex, it would be unsettling. So you can’t blame Lindiwe (Nomvelo Makhanya) for feeling uncomfortable with her husband Nhlamulo’s (Matthews Rantsoma) recent late-night shenanigans on the phone with a young lady named Motshabi (Dakalo Molope) – especially considering just a few months ago, he cheated on Lindiwe with his exgirlfriend less than a year into their marriage. “Granted Lindiwe cheated on Nhlamulo too, but we all thought the couple had put their infidelity in the past. But the beeping phone tells another story,” says Nomvelo.

MYSTERIOUS DIALLER

“Lindiwe doesn’t know who this girl is; any wife will raise an eye if her husband gets a call from a girl at night,” Nomvelo says, explaining that Nhlamulo tells his wife that the girl is a new tenant at his commune. “A young student who is studying to be a journalist,” Matthews adds. “Nhlamulo says that he wasn’t expecting her to have his number since he doesn’t know her that well.” Nhlamulo understands that his wife is angry about the calls : “Any women would be,” says Matthews. But as under-standing as Nhlamulo is about his wife’s feelings and reaction to the late-night calls from this strange girl, he still expects her to trust him a little more. “He doesn’t understand why she reacts that way because this girl is too young for him. Secondly, he is more faithful than ever now. And thirdly, he is only trying to be a good landlord, a good person. Helping where he can. It’s in his nature,” says Matthews, defending his character. But Lindiwe can’t shake the feeling that something is off about this whole situation. “A part of her suspects infidelity. Why is Nhlamulo going out of his way to help ‘some girl’?” Nomvelo asks. And her suspicions are spot on.

A KINDRED SPIRIT

“At first Nhlamulo knows nothing about his new tenant. But he wants to. He is on a quest to discover everything and soon he realises that they have a lot in common. “They have similar life experiences and he basically understands her, understands why she is the way she is,” says Matthews, refusing to give more details. “My lips are sealed. You have to watch to find out how they’re getting on so well so quickly. But the actor is adamant that Nhlamulo will never cheat on his wife. “Nhlamulo will never be unfaithful to Lindiwe again! What you can expect from Nhlamulo and this young lady is truth, honesty, vulnerability, and similarity,” he adds.
