Looking for a wild-ish west adventure? DreamWorks’ animated kiddies’ series Spirit: Riding Free as part of Craz-e follows the fun times of Lucky Prescott (voiced by Amber Frank, Taylor in the kids series The Haunted Hathaways) who forms a bond with a horse named Spirit, and her two besties Abigail (voiced by Bailey Gambertoglio, Molly in the kids series Bubble Guppies) and Pru (voiced by Sydney Park, Winter in the horror-comedy series Santa Clarita Diet). They take part in the Great Legacy Race during the Frontier Fillies Summer Outdoor Jubilee, and like all little kids, “Our characters get into a little mischief and rivalry. But at the heart of this, it’s all about having fun and growing up,” says Amber.
Amber is only 23 but she’s been acting since she was eight. “It was actually quite an odd feeling doing voiceovers as I’d been in front of the camera since the start,” says Amber. “I was so used to doing a lot of preparations for liveaction work such as research, learning my lines, to blocking with the crew. And when it came to voiceovers, you go into a booth, your script is there you don’t have to memorise the lines, you don’t need any make-up or hairdos. You just go in an do your lines, make it believable and you’re done.”
Amber adds that she’s become besties with Bailey and Sydney offscreen. “We do girls’ nights out a lot. We drink wine and talk about boys. It’s the only time we actually get to see each other – when we’re at work, we record our lines alone, so it’s not like we’re able to act together. But it’s become a sisterhood and maybe we’ll go horse riding one day.”
