With regards to your response to Hugo’s email regarding the price of your magazine, I would like to ask why then when the exchange rate improves and there is a decrease in the petrol price, why you do not then pass this onto your loyal readers. This excuse is too readily used nowadays for all price increases but the benefits of better exchange rates and petrol prices etc are never then passed onto consumers. Another excuse used now is the Russian/Ukraine war. – Lynne van Minnen, per email

Dear Lynne, thank you for the email, as always. I still have your mails about Isono (more on p20) being cancelled and the problem with recording on OpenView in my mailbox and hope to address it in my next meeting with e.tv. But back to your mail. I wish it was as easy as lowering the price when the exchange rate changes. For example, we buy paper in bulk, so a decrease in the exchange rate won’t help us. There will always be a yearly increase in the cover price. I wish there was a way around it, but it really is costly to get a magazine on shelf. Drum, for example, is now completely digital and doesn’t print at all anymore. But I doubt if that is a model that will work for tvplus.

Hi tvplus team. I’m saddened and shocked to hear of the ending of Days Of Our Lives. I can’t believe that this is happening. This is one of my favourite US soapies and will be sadly missed. I just have one question for e.tv. I would like them to explain why Days has been replaced with a repeat of the new local show Isono. Not only does this show repeat during the week, but also on the weekend, so why the double repeat? And Days has to go? Not Fair! Please find out for me. – Thanks, Alison McNaughton, per SMS

Hi Alison. I also miss Days! I hope you enjoyed the article in our previous magazine to bring you up to date on what’s happening in the US currently. e.tv ended the show to keep pace with viewing habits. Days had a declining viewership, and although Isono aired previously, it’s the first time showing on e.tv, so for the vast majority of their audience, it’s a new show. But as mentioned in the letter above for Lynne, I’ll definitely ask e.tv in our next meeting.

People look forward to seeing the repeat of Murder, She Wrote on weekends. People aren’t able to see it in the week. Now SABC has put rubbish in these timeslots. – Tanya, per SMS

Hi Tanya. I also used to record the weekend Murder, She Wrote episodes. I suspect it must not have a big enough audience for a weekend repeat. I’m so sorry you are missing out on the show. It’s such a feel-good programme (who would think a murder show can be like that?).

What nonsense does the 20:00 eNews talk. Saying Maharaj is devastated. Do you know what devastated means? When he should be said to be ecstatic with his performers today. – Anonymous, per SMS Dear Anonymous. I’m sorry I don’t have more context to answer better, but I always sympathise with newsreaders and commentators. They are under immense pressure and sometimes your brain is just that second behind your tongue.

I’m sure whoever you are commenting about realised his or her mistake and felt very silly afterwards for making it on air (I once said Justin Beaver during a radio interview instead of Justin Bieber when I referred to the singer).

Professionals on e.tv instead of S.W.A.T.? Really? It’s awful! – Sue Dawtrey, per SMS Hi Sue. I’m sorry you’re missing out on S.W.A.T. I also used to enjoy the show. I hope Professionals grows on you – it took me a while but I did get into it eventually.

Hi Lucia, I really can’t understand why they moved Imbewu to the same time slot as Muvhango. I have been following both soapies for years now, how am I supposed to watch both at the same time? Really a horrible decision! – Regards Loeky, per email

Ai Loeky, I hear you. I’m lucky enough that I can record the one, but I know not everyone is that fortunate. The best I can tell you is to keep on reading about both soaps in the magazine and alternate your viewing. We still try to get the best and strongest storylines precisely for this reason. It’s impossible to watch them all!
