Crafting queen Kirstie Allsopp is back in brand-new lifestyle show Kirstie’s Celebrity Craft Masters where she challenges two celebs to get creative and whip up useful and functional crafts. “They get to turn trash into treasure by upcycling items with the help of crafting pros,” says Kirstie. “From papercraft to pyrography, quilting to drilling and woodwork and more – it’s all here and I’ll be helping them uncover their hidden talents along the way.”
At the end of each episode, the stars’ work is judged by designer Piyush Suri and professor of design and craft Polly Macpherson. “I thought there may be a bit anxiety as working with celebrities was a whole new format for me,” says Polly. “But they, as well as Kirstie, were charming, and Kirstie was especially concerned to make sure her guests felt welcome and comfortable.” Polly also shares that she and Piyush didn’t always agree on which craft creation was worthy of the trophy which led to some lengthy debates and convincing.
Some of the famous faces who’ll appear on the show include TV presenters Rav Wilding and Angellica Bell, who will attempt to make bags and polymer clay planters, and comedians Susan Calman and Mark Dolan get tasked with making storage and cat coil baskets. “We have a lot of fun,” says Kirstie, “and we’re teaching our viewers that there’s no such thing as useless junk – everything can be re-used or re-purposed to transform into something new.”
