Un-fairy godmother
Maddie targets Robbie’s heart to get her hands on cash, but her godmother Angelique isn’t buying her charm.
When Maddie Evans (Lea Vivier, Yola Fischer in Showmax drama series Dam) arrived on the Price family’s doorstep in early June with her sister Chloe (Mila Guy, Zee in Afrikaans soapie Binnelanders, see p33), the Prices were happy to see her. But that’s going to change as her money-grabbing plan unfolds and they realise that it’s not a friendly visit. “She is Angelique’s (Michelle Botes) goddaughter and they have a good relationship,” says Lea. “Angelique has looked at her as another daughter. Maddie comes from big money, she’s cut from the same cloth as Angelique’s daughters. Maddie is privileged.” But her luck has run out and she’s lost her money…
ALMS FOR THE POOR
Maddie has set her sights on newcomer Price heir Robbie (André Lötter), who discovered his paternity last year and has been trying to fit in with his fancy new family. Maddie is no fool and she knows that Robbie is the weakest link because he’s out of his depth, says Lea. “She knows that she can manipulate him and bend Robbie to her will. That makes him the perfect target to get what she wants – money. And lots of it,” explains the actress. There’s a problem though – Angelique doesn’t like Robbie since he’s a reminder of her dead ex Sebastian’s (Deon Lots) infidelity, but she’s not going to let anyone steal… even her god-daughter. “Maddie has a plan but Angelique knows what’s going on. She doesn’t like what Maddie is doing,” says Lea. With all her tricks and powerful connections, Angelique organises Maddie a high-paying job in London but that’s not enough to tempt her away, adds the actress. “The Prices have billions and Maddie isn’t going to give up on that easily. She smells blood.”
SOUL SISTERS
Lea isn’t a Legacy fan just for the storyline: Her sister Trix plays Petra. “I auditioned to play Petra but didn’t get the part. I’ve watched because Trix is my sister and we support each other in our work.” Lea adds that Trix moving to Joburg for Legacy was difficult as they’re close, but that distance is shrinking. “I filmed my Legacy part earlier this year and now I’m moving from Cape Town to Joburg for work on a new kykNET telenovela. I can’t wait to be closer to my sister and my new role.”
