Closing the door
Seipati ends her marriage with Mandla and moves in with her sidepiece Gagashe after she learns an unsettling truth.
Mandla’s (Patrick Mofokeng) world recently came crashing down when he caught his second wife Seipati (Liteboho Molise) cheating with his business associate
Gagashe (Mpumi Mpama) red-handed. “There was nowhere for Seipati and Gagashe to run and they eventually confessed their affair,” says Liteboho. Although Mandla was distraught, he wasn’t ready to give up on his marriage just yet. “Mandla turned a blind eye to Seipati’s indiscretion on one condition: That she dumps Gagashe immediately and she agreed,” adds the actress. But Seipati discovers a secret that brings an end to her marriage and she rekindles her romance with Gagashe. THE TABLES TURN Seipati overhears a conversation in which Mandla admits that he only forgave her infidelity because she’s helpful around the house – and not because he loves her. “Seipati cooks and cleans and caters to Mandla’s every need, while his first wife
Puleng (Angela Sithole) squanders his money. So Puleng is devastated to learn that Mandla sees her as the help and nothing more,” explains Liteboho, whose marriage with Mandla was doomed from the start.
As the story goes, Mandla lost his memory 10 years ago after he fell off a bridge on a farm in the Free State, with his family led to believe that he’s dead. He married Seipati and when he regained his memory in 2021, Mandla returned to Puleng and he convinced her and Seipati to be in a polygamous marriage. “The marriage hasn’t been easy, especially for Seipati because Puleng is clearly Mandla’s favourite wife and he doesn’t even hide it,” says Liteboho, who explains that Seipati cheated because she was lonely. “Gagashe sees Seipati as an equal. He supports her dreams and most of all, he loves her, so he’s the man she should be with.” MOVING ON Seipati packs her bags but Mandla tries to stop her as she’s about to leave the Cele home. “Mandla is confused, at first but Seipati tells him that she heard his conversation where he spoke down on her and she won’t accept that kind of treatment,” explains Liteboho. For the first time, Seipati thinks of her own needs and follows her heart. “It’s emotional when Seipati leaves Mandla, but she knows that she is making the right decision,” adds Liteboho. But it isn’t the last of Mandla trying to win Seipati over as he’ll fight for their marriage and there’s nothing he won’t do to get rid of Gagashe once and for all.
