Computer hacker Fletcher (John Salley, Darious in youth drama film Sneakerella) is always willing to lend a hand when his LAPD cop friends need a favour. “He isn’t a bad guy. He’s just done some bad things, so he doesn’t really have a problem helping put serious criminals behind bars. Fletcher is usually the smartest in the room and he knows it. Rather than use his skills for illegal activities, his mission is to make the world a better place,” explains John, who reprises his role as Fletcher from the flagship Bad Boys action movie franchise.
The 58-year-old stands 2.11 metres 1 tall and he’s an ex-pro basketball player. He made history as the first player to win four championships with three different teams: The Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. “When I look at my basketball career, I made great memories with incredible teammates,” adds John.
After he retired from basketball in 2 2000, John ventured into showbiz. He co-hosted variety sports show The Best Damn Sports Show Period from 2001-2009, and he played Victor in comedy show Noah’s Arc in 2005.
John and his family – he married 3 wife Natasha in 1993 and they have two sons, along with John’s daughter from a previous relationship – have been vegan since 2006. He also owns a plantbased restaurant called Planet Health in California. “Even our dog Neo Carter is vegan,” says John. “As an environmental activist, I believe in limiting my carbon footprints on the planet – although I have big feet,” says John, who wears a size 15 shoe.
He also owns a marijuana brand 4 called Deuces22, which recorded a profit of $5 million (R77 million) in 2021. His daughter is the CEO.
