Crooked tree, bad apple
Dintle reaps what she sowed when her troublemaker daughter Motshabi gets her hit with legal action.
It’s not uncommon for a child who was adopted to seek out their biological parents when they’re older, and Motshabi “Mo” Martins (Dakalo Molope) did just that in May this year – she escaped boarding school and headed to Johannesburg to find her birth mom Dintle Nyathi (Mapaseka Koetle). The apple clearly didn’t fall too far from the tree – we all know Dintle and her scheming ways when she was younger. But Mo’s return opened old wounds, and now Dintle may have to confront her past in public – on her precious TV show Izigigaba! And just wait until Motshabi’s adoptive mom Erin (Lorcia Cooper) finds out that they’re still talking behind her back.
DINTLE’S BIG RISK
In mid July, an idea for Izigigaba triggers unpleasant memories for Dintle, and she realises that she has to deal with her past. “It involves Dintle having to reach out to someone via her show. It has the potential to backfire because the person she is reaching out to might reject and it may alienate her,” Mapaseka warns. As a result, Dintle is on the receiving end of a tongue lashing. “The person is simply cautioning Dintle against what she’s doing. And as a result, Dintle feels disappointed,” Mapaseka adds.
While Dintle is being hauled over the coals, Motshabi makes a decision that pours fuel on the fire for Dintle. “What makes this hard is that Dintle hasn’t really connected with Mo,” Mapaseka adds.
YOU’VE BEEN SERVED
Mo has unwittingly caused a bitter feud between her moms. Even though at some point “they uncover something common between them,” Lorcia hints that it’s not enough to have the women holding hands and singing Kumbaya – instead, Dintle gets slapped with legal action. Mapaseka adds, “It’s by someone Dintle had an agreement with and now feels that she is not sticking to it.” And before we can ask if that someone is Erin, Mapaseka goes scurrying back to set! There was so much drama around Dintle originally being pregnant with Mo, so we can understand if Erin now has a short legal fuse when it comes to Dintle!
A FAMILIAR STRANGER
Dintle gave Mo up for adoption 14 years ago (in 2013 on the show) and she went to boarding school in Magaliesburg. In May, Mo revealed that she’s Dintle’s long-lost daughter and Erin wasn’t happy at all, explains Dakalo. “Erin never imagined that there would ever be a reconnection. She’s already warned Dintle to stay away from Mo…”
