Punch-drunk love

Lelethu is ready to hang up his player jersey for Pamela, but will she take him back?

-

Lelethu (Yonda Thomas) is a ladies’ man. He’s never even tried to hide it. So when he started catching real feelings for fellow reporter Pamela (Zola Nombona) a few months ago, it seemed almost impossible to believe. “Pam gets him. She understands what he goes through as a journalist, and they have a lot of fun together. And the sex, of course, is great! The fact that they’re journalists in competition added more thrill in their connection, it heightens the chemistry,” says Yonda. The romance didn’t last though – a misunderstanding sent them their separate ways. But there is something about Pam that Lelethu simply can’t let go of!

LOVE BACK

“After the break-up, Lelethu tries to forget about Pam by entertaining other ladies. But he’s surprised to see that they don’t find him as charming as they used to. He loves and misses Pam, and he confides his heartache in their colleague

Tracy (Zizipho Buti),” reveals Yonda. Pam is trying to keep her distance from her ex, but secretly they can’t handle the separation. Zola says that her character misses her exciting boyfriend. “Pam finds Lelethu charming and they had a lot of fun together.” Pam loves him and Zola is convinced that Lelethu is in love with her character as well. “It certainly looks like it. He’s behaving like a man in love. He’s trying hard to forget about this woman but failing dismally. Sounds like love to me.”

NOT RIGHT NOW

But when Lelethu pursues Pam and tries to get them back together, he only gets the cold shoulder despite her attraction to him. And when Lelethu persists, Pam gets a protection order against him! “In a desperate attempt to show Pam he just wants them to get back the happy connection they once shared, Lelethu violates the protection order and he spends the night in a holding cell,” says Yonda. Despite her heartache at not being with Lelethu, Pam is somewhat happy that he’s leaving her alone.

While Lelethu is embarrassed about being a reporter in jail, Zola says that the love-forlorn Lelethu isn’t giving up on romance. “Pam receives a thoughtful gift and it’s something she’s always wanted. But her mood changes when she realises that the gift is from Lelethu. She’s got a lot of decisions to make about her love life,” says Zola.

Will the two former lovers ever be on the same page again? While both actors are hopeful, Yonda says that “Lelethu is going to make a few more mistakes before he gets it right with Pam again…”

IN THIS ISSUE

Mazwi agrees with his ex-wife Sphe that something fishy is going on, Zanele and Mpho dread to hear what Masina says, and conspirators are working towards completely different ends. Lelethu doesn’t take well to being humiliated at work, things get heated when Nkosiyabo pays a visit to his sidepiece Ayanda, and a defeated Sphe knows there’s only one course of action left to take. Fikile is devastated by what happens despite having expected it, while Lucy gives as good as she gets when Pamela takes her on.

Ayanda is pained to see the people she loves most moving on without her, a Moroka elder realises that his victory came at a cost, and a ladies’ man has lost his mojo. Mazwi’s hope for buying his ex’s shares starts to dwindle, Zondiwe has had enough of her daughter-inlaw’s moping, and Pamela has what she wants, so why isn’t she happy? Digging up a dead body is a sordid business, Mpho is increasingly worried about his mentor’s state of mind, while Kabisi is done playing nice. In his drunken state Lelethu finally reveals his true feelings, Tracy warns the boys to tread lightly around their fellow housemate, and Sphe thinks that she’s found a way out of trouble at last.
