About to burst

After agreeing to secretly carry her sister’s child, Winnie’s future isn’t looking quite as bright as she was promised.

-

Almost nine months ago, Winnie (Fundiswa Ngcobo) agreed to her older sister Mbali’s (Nolwazi Ngubeni) plan of drugging Mbali’s hubby Jojo (Melusi Mbele) and getting him to impregnate Winnie. Mbali promised to secure her sister’s future and ensure that Winnie will never want for anything. But now the walls have come crashing down on Mbali and as her secret is about to be exposed, Winnie realises that she’s made a grave mistake.

“Winnie agreed to all of this because she was promised a better life, but now seeing Mbali crashing puts a lot of questions in her head and unfortunately, she cannot undo what’s already done. She’s concerned about how Mbali is going to raise the unborn child by herself and this plan was for nothing,” says Fundiswa.

HOT BABY SECRET

It seems that Mbali’s nightmare of being caught lying about being pregnant will come true, and Winnie is smack in the middle. “Everything Mbali goes through in trying to hide her secret affects her sister directly. So if she gets found out, you can imagine that Jojo’s wrath won’t only stop at Mbali,” Fundiswa says.

Mbali urgently needs to put a plan into action to protect her web of lies, but she needs Winnie’s help. But will Winnie agree to another plan to cover up the first one? “Winnie knows that her sister can go to extremes to take care of herself. But sometimes it still shocks Winnie. Just when she thinks that she knows her sister, Mbali does something more shocking,” says the actress.

FEELING USED

Winnie isn’t just being used by her sister – someone far more dangerous will be lining up to take advantage of her whether Winnie wants to or not. “She is bullied into agreeing to help. I won’t reveal what the service is or who it’s for, but it’s another favour in aide of someone else. And it’s one that Winnie feels like she is left with not much choice in,” adds Fundiswa.

Winnie does what she needs to do to survive her current situation, but she also realises what she’s gotten herself into and battles to swim with the sharks. “Winnie’s naïvety again gets her into a sticky mess. Her view of seeing things in small bits rather than the larger picture is the reason for this position. The story will unfold and I wouldn’t be surprised if jealousy starts to creep in between the two sisters,” explains Fundiswa. That’s if Winnie doesn’t get fed up with it all and stands up for herself…
