The Real Housewives Of Dubai

Season 1 1Magic (*103) 21:00 Reality

If you think that the Real Housewives are living the high life in their spin-off shows set across the US, hold onto your hats. The newest franchise is set in Dubai in the Middle East and the Housewives are more Palace-wives than anything else. “You’ve seen nothing like this on television,” says producer Glenda Hersh.

“Everything you’ve seen in the existing Real Housewives shows is multiplied by 1 000. Money is no matter. It’s a joke, to be honest,” says the show producer. “What some of these women spend in a day, others work an entire year for. While their husbands have the real money, the Housewives themselves have more money than most people can dream of.” The first thing fans will notice about this series is the distinct lack of Arabic being spoken. “Most of the Wives are from the United States. One is from Kenya by way of Brazil. It just happened this way – we were looking for fabulous Housewives and these six fit the bill, pardon the pun,” says Glenda.

There’s loads of petty catfights in this series, just like the other spin-off shows, which Glenda admits sometimes can be edited to be a bit more dramatic. “The fights are never instigated. You need to remember that these women are living incredible lives. They’re draped in the world’s best designer fashion. There’s more gold on their bodies and diamonds than in a jewellery store. Everything they do is blinged out to the max.”

And yes, most of the Housewives have jobs. Nina Ali runs a lucrative fruit cake bakery called Fruit Cake, Chanel Ayan runs her own modelling agency as well as a make-up brand called Ayan Beauty, and Caroline Brooks opened her newest company Glass House Salon & Spa earlier this year.
