Lost-in-love Shady
Careful Shady… before you know it, you’ll have pushed everyone away!
Sometimes when a person falls in love, nothing else matters – only them and their new partner.
This seems cute at first, but it quickly becomes toxic when the people who were there before the relationship take a back seat. This is exactly what Bonita (Hildegardt Whites) thinks is happening to her niece Shady (Beáta Bena Green).
Shady decided this would be her best year yet. After all, she recently won a beauty pageant and met a guy she thinks is her knight in shining armour: Jermaine (Adrian Steyn, Ryno in Afrikaans soapie Getroud Met Rugby), the new waiter at Oppiekoffie coffee shop. “Their relationship is moving fast – they slept together after knowing one another for a short time but they feel super connected. Shady feels this is right and especially after such a hectic year with losing her friend Shawn (Deànré Reiners),” Beáta says.
But is it really a healthy relationship?
CONCERNED AUNT
Bonita is worried about her niece’s new relationship and the direction Shady’s life is heading. “Shady has fallen head over heels for Jermaine and takes every opportunity to talk about him or be with him. Bonita thinks that Shady is going through a phase and is hasty but she supports her niece. Yet she can’t help but feel scared this guy is going to hurt her,” Hildegardt says.
Their friend Zee (Ray Neo Buso) opens up to Bonita with his own concerns. “Shady and Jermaine are practically bound at the hip, so Zee, as Shady’s best friend, airs his worries as Shady is hardly spending time with her friends anymore,” Hildegardt adds.
SHADY BRIDESMAID
Bonita and Zee aren’t alone. Khethiwe (Sesethu
Ntombela), who’s about to get married, is not impressed with Shady as one of her bridesmaids. “Shady is caught up in her own whirlwind of romance. As one of her bridesmaids, Khethiwe feels Shady isn’t doing her duties; she’s too focused on her increasing fanbase (after winning the beauty pageant),” says Sesethu. And when Shady misses an important meeting with Khethiwe, Khethiwe is livid. It seems Shady is slowly alienating the people in her life. Hopefully her love bubble bursts a bit before she loses all the people she loves…

The Hillsiders prepared for the talent competition but not every team seemed to be on the same page, Fikani was prepared to go to great lengths to see his plan through, and Shady received exciting news but it’s going to impact her future decisions.
IN THIS ISSUE
The talent competition gets underway, Karmen impresses the audience with her magic trick, and Ivy renders a sentimental item. Alexa struggles to come to terms with where her life is at, Aggie is on a high after a successful event, and Fikani reassures his sister-in-law Amorey and invites her to spend time with baby Nelo. Bonita is concerned about Shady, Chris calls Fikani for medical assistance, and Lesedi is involved in an accident.
Khethiwe is furious when Shady doesn’t show up for an important meeting and leaves her in the lurch, Denzil asks Chris about Mariaan’s whereabouts, and Zee opens up to Bonita about his concerns. The youngsters can’t believe the news they read on social media, Tanya is disheartened by the cruel nature of people, and Mariaan and DeWet don’t know where to turn to with their new problem. The Hillsiders are in high spirits, Shady and Jermaine are caught between a rock and a hard place, and Ivy insists that Romeo and Khethiwe’s friends plan a bachelorette and bachelors party for the pair. Tjattas and Uys meanwhile are thrown by Zee’s idea of celebrations.
