Lehasa is on trial and actor Cedric Fourie says he’s fighting for his life and freedom in Turfloop!
Skeem Saam is keeping viewers on our toes as shady businessman Lehasa (Cedric Fourie) goes on trial for murdering Fanie
(Gift Mokhampanyane) in August 2021. Fanie knew all of Lehasa’s secrets, things we don’t even know about – like the fact that Lehasa’s real surname is Banda. It got to the point where Fanie blackmailed Lehasa to sell him Café Rovuwa, and when Lehasa refused, Fanie threatened to expose Lehasa’s past… which led to Fanie being murdered as Lehasa flew into a blind rage.
Although Lehasa may seem like someone who is crass, manipulative and unapologetically evil, 30-year-old Cedric finds his character to be someone who’s smart, driven, somewhat endearing and a man who’ll do anything for the people he loves.
What do you love and hate about Lehasa? I love that he’s intelligent and shrewd. He has charisma and he always gets his way. For some reason luck always seems to be on his side. He’s never indecisive about the people that he keeps in his life – when he hates, he hates hard, and when he loves, he loves even harder. The thing I hate about Lehasa is that sometimes he is very strong, but he can also be extremely weak in the same way.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in this role? Trying to mold the character as per the brief I was given when I auditioned and having to make sure that I am able to fit in all the elements that are in the story, into the character who is complex. Where did you find inspiration for how you’ve shaped Lehasa? I draw inspiration from different characters all over the world, such as businessmen who are shrewd and villains. But also from good guys, so that my character isn’t one dimensional. There have to be different aspects to the character to make him believable and loveable.
Do you share any similarities with Lehasa? We’re both fitness enthusiasts who’re building empires. We both love and protect our families with everything that we are. Lehasa really wants a child and he’s going crazy with the idea that he’s expecting a child soon, and I can relate because I have a son whom I love with everything I have and whom I would die for. We both can also be very impatient…
And how do you think Lehasa’s murder trial is going to go? Lehasa is facing uncertainty at this point. The judge is the father of his ex-girlfriend, so there’s hatred there already. Knowing that the judge is someone who can’t stand him, Lehasa is afraid that the judge may try to prove a point.

Someone’s bravery is repaid with disappointment, and Principal Magongwa lashes out when provoked. Lizzy encounters a dreamy man at the hospital, Khwezi tries to play the seduction card but she fails badly, and a certain Turf High employee is put in their place by Mr Kgomo. Kwaito is thrown an ultimatum about his career by MaNtuli, and something is off about Dr Thobakgale’s new patient at the hospital.
