Deals with the devil
Nokuzola returns to the town of Mbumbulu with one goal in mind, unaware of the turmoil that awaits her.
Fierce and feisty lawyer Nokuzola (Vuyiseka Cawe) is back and she is ready to fight for love. She went to the Eastern Cape after her husband Zithulele (Raphael Griffiths) served her with divorce papers in June when he found out that their baby wasn’t his. But while Nokuzola’s return is purely to win Zithulele back, her life is about to be turned upside down when she’s met with blackmail.
“Nokuzola thought about a lot of things during her time away and she’s decided to fight for Zithulele since he is the love of her life,” says Vuyiseka. “She regrets him finding out about her baby’s paternity. She was already struggling to deal with her child’s abduction, and the truth about Zithu’s brother Nkululeko (Kay Sibiya) being her baby’s father was the final blow. She felt lonely and abandoned. That’s why she went back home to her family,” she adds. “But her plans to win back Zithulele are brought to an abrupt halt when she’s blackmailed by the Bhengus’ enemy, Sunil (Jack Devnarain).”
A SHOCKING FIND
After visiting Zithu in prison where he’s serving time for manslaughter in a hit-and-run accident in July, Nokuzola bumps into Zithu’s girlfriend Sibongile (Sindisiwe Zondo) and she’s shocked that Sibongile is pregnant. “Nokuzola is actually more outraged than shocked that Zithulele has moved on so fast. What boils her blood is that Sibongile is pregnant with Zithulele’s child and not her,” explains Vuyiseka, whose character longed to have Zithulele’s baby.
JOINING THE ENEMY
While scheming to drive Sibongile out of Zithulele’s arms and back into her own, Nokuzola meets someone who wants to help her find her missing daughter. The stranger hands Nokuzola a bag of things and a burner phone, telling her that she’ll find what she’s looking for. Not long after the meeting though, Nokuzola’s room is ransacked. “She panics and worries about finding her baby. What lawyer Nokuzola doesn’t know is that Sunil is behind the break-in and he’s going to leverage the phone and bag in exchange for her help doing the one thing he wants: taking over the Bhengu family’s company Maluju Oil. Only then will he hand her what she needs to find her child,” explains the actress. But Noku and viewers know all too well that when it comes to Sunil, there’s never only one agenda…
