There’s no shortage of drama in hit Turkish telenovela Doodsondes (Deadly Sins in English). The focal point is the beautiful Yildiz (Eda Ece, voiced by Monique Rockman, Joy in Afrikaans soap Suidooster, see p33) whose life has experienced twists and turns since marrying handsome businessman Halit (Talat Bulut, voiced by Johan Esterhuizen, Dok le Roux in drama series The Boland Murders), having his child and divorcing Halit. And it’s not going to get easier in the exciting fourth season.
1 Eda was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1990 and went to school at Sisli Progress High School and she studied psychology at Istanbul Bilgi University. She didn’t earn her degrees because acting came calling.
2 She got her first role in 2011 as Cimbom in the comedy series Pis Yedili. She was cast in Doodsondes (called Yasak Elma in Turkey) in 2018 without having to audition. “It was strange. The producers gave me the role, which I’m grateful for,” she says.
3 The actress has an ear for languages. She speaks Turkish, English, German and French, and she’s also learning Spanish.
4 Eda has 6.5 million followers on her Instagram page and posts skin-care tips and fashion tips on her social media accounts.
5 She’s been dating Turkish basketball player Bugrahan Tuncer for three years and she says “he’s the one”.
