George Li-Yun Fan (Leah Lewis, Ellie Chu in Netflix movie The Half Of It) isn’t the most optimistic member of the Drew Crew in the supernatural drama series Nancy Drew, centring on sleuth Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann, Georgia in drama series Tell Me Lies) and the crimes she investigates in Horseshoe Bay. As Nancy’s high school rival, George is sarcastic, edgy and a lipstick-rocking independent businessowner who won’t take nonsense from anybody.
1 The 25-year-old was adopted from an orphanage in Shanghai, China when she was eight months old. Her adoptive parents Frederick and Lorraine are estate agents in Florida and Leah says that her parents “did everything to raise me with an American and Chinese culture. I love them for that.”
2 She’s been acting for over 16 years, having starred mainly in TV ads until she was 10 and she was cast in shows like Disney’s TV movie Paloozaville in 2006 as Leah.
3 In 2013 she auditioned for season 4 of reality series The Voice US but none of the coaches turned their chairs. Leah still loves singing and uploads videos to her Instagram page where she plays guitar and sings songs she’s written herself and from other artists.
4 She had to learn Mandarin for her role in The Half Of It, revealing, “I practiced hard. It’s great from a cultural side, but for the role I was going into this fully.”
5 Leah is a gym bunny. She has a mini home gym for yoga and a gym membership for weights.
