It’s Abigail Bianchi’s (Jewel Staite, Phyllis in fantasy series The Magicians) last chance to stay sober and redeem her reputation as a lawyer in Canadian legal series Family Law. And she’s doing it under the eye of her estranged dad Harry Svensson (Victor Garber, Admiral Halsey in sci-fi series The Orville), which isn’t as easy as she’d thought. “Abigail is a tough cookie and she may need to be forced into this rather than do it willingly,” says Jewel. 1 The 73-year-old actor has been entertaining since 1967 when he formed his pop band The Sugar Shoppe. He gave up being a full-time musician in 1975 when he discovered stage acting, after being cast in a performance of Hamlet.
2 Victor was born in the city of London in Ontario and he’s of Russian-Jewish descent.
3 His bestie is Jennifer Gardner (Ellie Reed in the film The Adam Project) – they starred together in action thriller series Alias and Victor officiated her wedding to Ben Affleck (Batman in the Justice League superhero film) in 2005. The couple have since split and Victor helped counsel Jennifer.
4 At the age of 12 Victor was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and says that it’s been a struggle at times. “Whether on stage or camera, I’ve had to figure out balancing all of the things that impact diabetes, from my schedule, my insulin, my activity, what I eat,” he says.
