DRAMATISED BUT QUITE ACCURATE

While some scenes have been dramatised, the series was inspired by research done from reading Julia’s extensive library of books and production notes. Viewers will see recreations of scenes that really aired on TV, like when Julia scared TV host Dick Cavett with a blowtorch while making onion soup – a clip you can find on Youtube.

“Everybody knows Julia Child, but few know the very important people in her life,” says Bebe Neuwirth (Niles’s frosty wife Lilith in Frasier), who plays Avis DeVoto, Julia’s original book editor. “Avis helped publish the Mastering books,” explains Sarah. She also helped Julia buy the house with the iconic kitchen that would change Julia’s life.
