From cop to crook?

Mpho’s undercover mission takes a scary and violent detour when he “goes” to prison.

-

Being a policeman is seriously scary business, especially those undercover missions – anything can happen! And Mpho (Junior Singo) finds it out the hard way. See, Mpho is the new inmate in prison – he’s gone incognito to find out who was behind the cop killings that happened a few weeks ago. Mpho must join Captain Solo’s (Mlungisi Ndebele) gang, but first he must prove his loyalty by murdering a guard who’s been a problem for the gang. Now that’s a line the law-upholding policeman doesn’t want to cross…

But deciding that desperate times call for desperate measures, “inmate” Mpho attacks the guard. “He actions his plan with the help of his ‘squad’, who start a riot so that Mpho can complete his mission and stab the guard. The inmates are very excited and pleased with Mpho,” says Junior. Whether the guard indeed paid with his life remains to be seen…

JOB’S GOTTA GET DONE

Being a celebrated member of the gang leads Mpho down a dark path to drugs. To help with insomnia, he’s given Mandrax, but soon he becomes jittery and paranoid. His senior Detective Pele (Andile Nebulane), who has eyes on everything, is worried about Mpho because this wasn’t part of the plan. “Mpho is supposed to be working undercover, not become a drug addict. But stubborn Mpho insists he’s got it all under control. His job in the gang is to deal drugs, do handovers and collect cash. Needless to say, the junior detective is struggling,” adds Junior.

MARADONA THE GHOST

While Mpho is on a mission on one hand, Detective Pele has a puzzle to solve on the other. “Pele’s journalist younger brother Lelethu (Yonda Thomas) reminds him of a gang leader they both knew from their past called Maradona (Mkhonzeni Mazibuko, the show couldn’t provide a pic),” says Andile. Pele suspects that Maradona is behind all the deaths and Mpho also picks up on the name.

“Mpho couldn’t get a full name though, and no one can find any files on Maradona. He’s a ghost,” Andile teases. But are the drugs maybe blurring lines, and was Mpho given the nickname Maradona and Lelethu somehow picked up on it?

Between the drugs and violence, Mpho finds out who’s leaking info – and he’s horrified. But while the case is building, Mpho is falling apart…
