Secrets upon secrets
Tlhogi’s world is about to be shaken as her skeletons start bubbling to the surface.
Mdala’s (James Sithole) one goal when he’s released from prison – where he served time for robbery after Nhlamulo (Matthews Rantsoma) sold him out to the police in exchange for his freedom – is finding out who betrayed him and got him locked up. Unbeknown to him, his wife Tlhogi (Komie Mogale) is one of the people, betraying her husband’s trust. Tlhogi now has mixed feelings about Mdala’s arrival back in her life, and she is desperate to keep her part in his imprisonment a secret.
“Mdala is on a mission to find out who the culprits were and make them pay. He doesn’t involve anyone in this, so he’s going solo,” James says, adding that even people Mdala loves and trust are now under suspicion.
TLHOGI’S BATTLE
A lot has happened between Tlhogi and Mdala, and Mdala’s return can either mean the end of their marriage or a beautiful new chapter for them. But Tlhogi is nervous, reveals Komie. “She has a long shared past with Mdala, which makes every emotion complicated, so she can’t easily dismiss her feelings about him.”
Adding to the complicated relationship between Mdala and Tlhogi is the arrival of Mdala’s aunt Kgari (Frieda Makoba), who isn’t the type of woman to be messed with. “Kgari doesn’t take nonsense when it comes to her nephew, whom she loves dearly. She has a sharp tongue and will protect her own above all. But she also has a big heart – she has raised kids that are not her own,” Komie reveals about the bond that Mdala has with his aunt. What makes matters worse for Tlhogi is that Kgari, who doesn’t particularly like her, believes a certain lie about Tlhogi and she’s unwilling to listen to reason. And this may land Tlhogi in deep trouble with Mdala.
But Mdala and Kgari aren’t the only people Tlhogi is worried about. Mdala’s friend Taps (Moses Boikarabelo Mabuza) might also be a threat to her when he starts asking questions that make Tlhogi very uncomfortable. “Being complicit in her husband’s sentencing isn’t the only secret that Tlhogi has, and Taps’s questions may expose her. Tlhogi may be in huge trouble and other people’s lives and people they love may be in danger too,” says Komie. Will Tlhogi’s secrets remain buried, or will Mdala uncover her betrayal?
