3 million and more said yes!

Openview exceeds subscriber expectations! And here’s why you should get it too!

-

eMedia and its Openview free-toair TV service passed the 3 million viewership mark and the numbers keep climbing. “Openview launched almost nine years ago and has seen steady growth with daily activations having grown exponentially since the early years. The platform hosts a variety of TV and radio channels, which cater to all ages, races and genders across SA,” says eMedia Chief Communications Officer Bennum van Jaarsveld.

He adds, “The beauty of Openview is that the decoder can be purchased as a once-off cost and has no monthly fees. From October, we have a new deal that includes a decoder and installation which you can pay off over four instalments and get access to world-class entertainment.” Now that’s a deal we all can get onboard with!

SOMETHING AUTHENTIC

If you’re looking for something real and authentic, eReality (108) is filled with some of the hottest reality shows alive, including potty-mouthed Gordon Ramsay ruling the kitchen roost in Hell’s Kitchen season 17 (Sundays at 17:10). Plus, The Home Channel (113) is packed with the hottest home reno shows on TV. If you’re looking to add an Eastern flavour to your viewing, StarLife (110), ZeeOne (111) and GlowTV (140) brings Indian and Korean cultures to your screen. And the little ones also have an entire channel dedicated to fun, animated and liveaction programming with eToonz (130). That’s just a taste of the channels (there are radio channels 5FM, Yfm, Metro FM and more) and eMedia is planning to add to the Openview offering later in 2022 and 2023.

NOT SURE HOW TO HAVE AN OPENVIEW DECODER INSTALLED?

It’s easier than you realise. Visit the Openview website at www. openview.co.za, click on the Find An Installer tab and enter your location. If you’re tech savvy, you can even install it yourself. Just head to your nearest supplier, buy your decoder (R649 once-off, R1 699 if you need the satellite dish, or R174.75 pm [decoder only] or R424.75 pm [decoder + installation] if you want to pay over four instalments) and activate. And here’s a breakdown of all you need to know:

WHAT YOU NEED:

• An Openview decoder

• A satellite dish

• A TV with and HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connection (the decoder comes with an AV (audio visual) analogue cable, but you’ll have to get your own HDMI cable)

• An approved installation agent Where can you get an Openview decoder? PEP, Game, Ackermans, Makro, Hi-Fi Corp, Checkers Hyper, Layaway, Search Your

Deal and more.

Activate your decoder and account: You don’t need to be

Bill Gates to start viewing. Once you’ve connected your Openview decoder to your TV, follow these easy steps:

• Turn on your TV and select the HDMI channel your decoder is connected to (press

SOURCE on your remote). If you’re

using an RCA (Radio Corporation of America) cable (with the three leads: Red, yellow, and white), you must choose the AV channel on your TV set.

• You should see the Openview promo channel playing. Press HELP on your Openview remote (under the red button).

• Write down the STB (Set Top Box) number on the screen (it’s 12 digits long).

• Press the EXIT button on your Openview remote and the promo channel will return.

• On the bottom right of your screen is a red box with instructions (you need to dial a USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) short code on your cellphone).

• Follow the steps on your cell phone – you’ll be able to choose from activating your decoder, your smart card, resetting the parental control and finding authorised installers.

• Choose ACTIVATE YOUR DECODER/SET TOP BOX and enter the STB 12-digit number. That’s it (it can take up to an hour to activate on the Openview network).

If you don’t have a satellite on your house: You don’t need a specific dish. The recommended size is 85cm and you can get one at any retailer. When SA concludes it’s digital migration you won’t need a new decoder – your Openview decoder is digital and receives digital signal through the satellite dish on your room. Is Openview PVR ready? It is… but you need the addon flash drive from Openview to make use of this function.
