Nkazimulo gatecrashes more than just a baby gender reveal party for Nosipho and Pastor Gwala…
It seems that Nosipho’s (Nompilo Maphumulo) pregnancy isn’t welcome by many – her uncle Mkhonto (Bonga Dlamini) is furious that she’s carrying goodguy cop Mondli’s (Thembinkosi Thwala) baby. It’s not like they were dating – Nosipho stole his sperm and went for artificial insemination. But while they’re not together, she does have a “babydaddy” after falling in love with Pastor Gwala (Menzi Biyela) not too long ago and they’re now expecting “their” unborn .
Nothing and no one is going to get Nosipho down and together with Pastor Gwala, they organise a gender reveal party with their friends and anyone else who’s happy for them. “Pastor Gwala has a teenage son and he wasn’t always present in the boy’s life. So now with this child, who he regards as his own, he wants to be as present as possible and experience all stages of this young life,” Menzi says. But that teen son is about to arrive…
“HI DAD”
While the expecting couple are celebrating the gender reveal, Pastor Gwala is stunned by a 14-year-old uninvited guest. “My character’s son Nkazimulo (Tshepo Duncabe) arrives and the atmosphere is immediately tense,” says Menzi, with Nompilo adding, “Pastor Gwala wants the gender reveal to be special for his girlfriend, so he planned this surprise event with her friend Nonka’s (Thuthuka Mthembu) help. It’s a beautiful celebration as they find out that the baby is a boy. But the party ends abruptly. Awkward!”
TROUBLED CHILD
“Nkazimulo left his mother and said that he wants to live with his father. He was bullying other children at his old school. He’s going through something very deep,” says Menzi. Despitehis best intentions, Gwala pushes his son into a corner. And the teen turns his anger on his dad’s girlfriend. “Nosipho’s is thrilled when she starts feeling her baby kicking and shares her excitement with her partner. The fuss about the baby annoys Nkazimulo and he lashes out,” says Nompilo. “Nkazimulo feels that his dad isn’t making time for him. This new baby is taking away attention that belongs to him. He’s crying out for help and his dad doesn’t realise it,” Menzi adds. And that will push Nkazimulo towards someone dangerous… grampa
