How will Skhumbuzo get himself out of the mess that he’s been thrown into?
Doctor Skhumbuzo’s (Tumelo Matlala) life is going great, especially since his dream girl Zandile (Sthandwa Nzuza) agrees to a date. But what Zandile doesn’t know is that Skhumbuzo isn’t who he seems… “The happiness that Skhu portrays is an emotion that he’s only reserved for Zandile because deep down, he’s harbouring a dark secret that changed him as a man and a person altogether,” says Tumelo.
“Skhu always plays the loving, caring and romantic man when Zandile is around, so she never notices the dodgy and strange behaviour that he shows around others, especially his psychiatrist,” adds the actor. But Zandile will start feeling uneasy when Skhu blocks her from going into certain rooms in his house or reveal what’s behind those locked doors…
A SUSPECT IS ARRESTED
While Skhumbuzo tries to keep his secrets concealed from Zandile and his demons from exposing themselves, he’s caught smoking in the stairwell by the police who storm Durban Gen looking for the notorious Ash-Tray Serial Killer. “The Ash-Tray killer has been running rampant in the hospital corridors and has murdered a lot of patients. A signature of the murderer is that they smoke (and leave stompies as a sort of calling card), so the police react when they find Skhumbuzo smoking and they arrest him. And more compelling, as a doctor, Skhumbuzo has access to the hospital’s patients and medication. But, only time will tell if Skhumbuzo is the real killer or not,” hints Tumelo.
HORRIFYING SECRETS
Although Skhu is being investigated for murder, Zandile decides to stay by his side to support him – and that gets Skhu feeling safe enough to reveal his secret past. “He realises that he really can trust her, and this is why he decides to share something with her,” says Tumelo. “He tells her about how he was abused and molested, and that even though he was motivated by other men who went through the same, he never found the courage to speak up as a victim because he feels that people don’t take a man being molested or abused as seriously as they should,” adds the actor. Was that experience enough to turn him into a serial killer? At least Zandile takes his confession seriously and after opening up to her, maybe Skhu will open other doors too and show Zandile more of who he is…
