Boniswa’s big break
She’s hot out of rehab and ready to let loose on the people who’ve betrayed her.
“Since I ‘met’ Boniswa, she’s felt like a cauldron waiting to boil over,” explains Gabisile Tshabalala about her character. “Boniswa has this pent-up rage inside her that’s been bubbling away, and now is the time for her to unleash her rage not only on the world that has beaten her down into the ground, but also on the people who’ve made sure that she’s been controlled and forced into behaving in a way that will benefit these people. Her mom Mam Rebs (Linda Sebezo) and her husband Nkanyiso (Mzikayise Makroti) aren’t going to like what happens to them,” warns the actress.
REHAB RETRIBUTION
Boniswa was a functioning addict for years, and it was a pro and con for the two most important people in her life. “Mam Rebs hated what Boniswa was doing to herself. She knew in her heart that her daughter was putting her life at risk, but it also meant that Boniswa was ‘easier’ to manage and to deal with when she worked at
Mam Rebs’s various businesses. And for Nkanyiso, he loves his wife but he knows that keeping her drugged up means he can manipulate her and get his hands on her family money,” says the actress. And it’s worked . . . until now. “She’s sent to a rehab and for a change she actually wants to be clean and sober and off drugs and booze,” says Gabisile. “So, when she’s thinking clearly, she formulates an escape plan. It’s not her first time fleeing a rehab and it probably won’t be her last, so she knows the ins and outs, and when she breaks free and smells fresh air, Boniswa knows what she’s got to do,” warns the actress ominously.
HELL HATH NO FURY
Boniswa is scorned – make no mistake about that. And she’s out for revenge now that she’s got her focus back and she wants to make her “enemies” pay. “She hates that her mom allowed her to go this far. Boniswa is hurt that her mom gave her so much responsibility with her businesses and that pressure forced her to depend on drugs a lot more,” says Gabi. And it’s not going to end well for Nkanyiso either – he made sure that Boniswa got a supply of narcotics even when she was in rehab. “He enabled her and took advantage. She’s okay with him using her family money, it’s more the fact that he fuelled her habit that angers Boniswa,” says the actress. What Mam Rebs and Nkanyiso don’t know right now is that Boniswa has broken out of rehab again and that she’s coming for them. How, where and when – that’s a mystery still…

An important witness becomes the centre of attention in the investigation against Mam Rebs, and Khanya thinks that he might’ve made a mistake. Junior is taken into custody as well, Mamkhize’s mind is running wild, and Mam Rebs might have found some reprieve from prison when she’s released on bail. Mam Rebs realises that she’s got to fly under the radar for the time being, and Romeo and Khaya’s side hustle is immediately off the ground, but Mam Rebs is coming for them.
Frans might’ve gotten what he’s been searching for, and Mam Rebs thinks that she saw her daughter Boniswa at the local shops. Khaya and Romeo are raking in the cash, and the red mist comes over a would-be victim and he almost murders his assailant with a golf club. Boniswa might have forgotten that her mom is a killer, and Jupiter doesn’t know how to act when his new ladylove throws her weight around his house. Boniswa lashes out at the people who’ve hurt her most – her husband Nkanyiso and Mam Rebs – when she outright ignores their orders, and Mam Rebs is furious when she finds out how Boniswa escaped from rehab. Mam Rebs tries to blackmail Khaya, and Jupiter tries to get rid of his problem . . . quickly.
