Demián Bichir believes that a good parent does everything to protect their child. But what do you do when your 12-year-old is a vampire and her thirst for blood demands more than you can do in Let The Right One In? “My character Mark shields his vampire daughter Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez, Young Selena in the drama series Selena: The Series) from the world. He’s trying to find a cure for her but it’s difficult and almost kills him,” explains the 59-year-old.
1Demián started acting at the age of three in Mexican telenovelas and soapies as the “Baby” character. He studied at the Palace Of Fine Art in Mexico City and the National Theatre Company Of Mexico.
2He moved to New York when he was 22 “to live in the Big Apple and to learn English. I think it’s worked out well, and I perfected my guacamole while working as a waiter,” he says with a laugh.
3The actor is multi-talented and paints in his free time, as well as plays music, revealing that it’s his party trick. “If I have a little too much tequila, I’m known to dance on tables and sing,” he says.
4Demián is hot property in his home country Mexico and he’s swamped with publicity requests and interviews whenever he goes home. He’s so popular, in fact, there were petitions to have him do voiceovers in Disney movies . . . and the media giant agreed. He’s provided the Latin American Spanish voices of Aladdin in Aladdin 1 (1992), Aladdin 2: The Return Of Jafar (1994) and Aladdin And The King Of Thieves in 1996.
