Texas-born Matt Barr says that he’s the best of both his parents and it’s made him perfect to play adventureseeking Danny McNamara in action series Blood & Treasure. “My father coached university football and my mother is a portrait artist. My body can take a knock or two, and I’m an artist when it comes to performing a play, film or TV show. I’m glad for the combination of talents that they blessed me with,” says the 38-yearold from Dallas.

Matt played football at high school and made the All State team in his final year. Knowing the sport inside out made him a shoo-in for a role in sport movie Friday Night Lights but a last-minute director change saw him cut from the movie.

Kevin Costner (John Dutton in Western drama series Yellowstone). “I’d grown up wanting to be an actor and I wanted to be Kevin. Everything he did was magic, especially the Westerns,” says Matt.

He’s an adrenaline junkie and loves diving – both freediving and with scuba gear. Matt’s love of water came in handy as a teen when he saved his younger sister Sara. “My sister was drowning in the ocean and I dived in to save her. She owes me her life. It’s great leverage and I use it all the time,” says Matt. He also has a young brother named Matt.
