Mzingisi Hloba has been appointed as the new municipal manager for the uMngeni Municipali­ty.

The former chief financial officer (CFO) of the municipali­ty has been performing the role in an acting capacity since December 17 last year.

Hloba comes into the position with vast experience and a good track record.

He worked as the CFO in Alfred Duma Municipali­ty where he contribute­d to the municipali­ty getting a clean audit.

During his term of office at the Richmond Municipali­ty he achieved two clean audits in two financial years.

Hloba holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting and a post graduate certificat­e in generally

recognised accounting practice. He also has 20 years’ experience working as a CFO in local government.

Philisiwe Memela, the manager in the office of the Mayor of uMngeni, said: “Hloba was one of the top three performers in the selection process and has shown his commitment to turning the uMngeni Municipali­ty around, based on the principles of transparen­cy, fairness and good governance.

“We wish him well as he takes on this mammoth task of being the accounting office and pledge our support in his role.”
