RUGBY STARS

Maritzburg College 1st XV players, Sphephelo Mbonambi (second left), who is also deputy head prefect, and Lihle Bester (second right), have earned well-deserved call-ups by SARU to the SA U18 A and SA U18 rugby teams respectively. Hermannsburg pupil, Samlungela Thwala, was selected for the U14 KZN Country District hockey team. She travelled with the team to Krugersdorp in Gauteng earlier this month to take part in the North Regional Girls Hockey Tournament. Samlungela plays in a centre-half position and is an enthusiastic defender. With her are coach Nicole Nieuwoudt and executive head Matthew Reed.
