Ancient Egypt day is celebrated annually by the Grade 5s at Cowan House to wrap up a term of enjoyment in the classroom.

During this interactiv­e topic, the children learn about Pharaohs,

The isiZulu first additional language Grade 8 and 11 girls represente­d St Anne’s at the isiZulu Day Celebratio­n at St Nicholas in Pietermari­tzburg. the Nile, pyramids and a way of life far removed from that of ours today.

For Egypt Day the children donned costumes and strutted their stuff for their parents and teachers, presenting exciting, and

This annual event enables pupils from the participat­ing schools to prepare performanc­es in isiZulu in celebratio­n of the language, culture and history. After the performanc­es often humorous, jingles.

They then participat­ed in a fun treasure hunt and had to crack a hieroglyph­ic code.

Finally, they feasted on Egyptian foods at beautifull­y decorated tables in the dining room. they share supper together.

It is wonderful to have this very special event back on the school calendar again after Covid-19.
