Midlands’ pupils raise thousands for SPCA
School pupils in Howick, Hilton and Nottingham Road have helped boost the coffers and food stocks at the Howick-u-Mngeni SPCA
Children from Clifton Preparatory School’s Grade 2S and 2R, who collected the most donations, had great fun delivering all the food collected by the junior primary to the organisation.
At Cowan House Prep School, the Grade 5B class enjoyed a special treat – pizza – for for collecting the most money in the SPCA tin collection.
Also doing their bit to help the SPCA were the pupils at Grace College. The top collectors were the Grade 10S class, who were rewarded with a 'Congratulations ' cake donated by Pick n Pay at The Avenues Centre.
Howick High School pupils also helped fill collection tins with those in the Grade 8BT class raising the most money. For their efforts they received ice creams from Greendale SuperSpar & Tops.
The school collection from Howick, Hilton and Pietermaritzburg is over R35 000 which will be divided between the Pietermaritzburg, Mooi River and Howick-uMngeni SPCAs.
"A very big thank you from all of us on the SPCA 1000 Paws Walk for allowing the SPCA collection tins in each classroom,” Renee Karssing from the PAWS committee said.
