SA MASTERS’ WORKS UP FOR AUCTION

-

The works of two of the finest artists in South Africa, JH Pierneef and Walter Battiss, will be going under the hammer at Cannons Auctioneers in Hilton.

They are among a number of stunning items being sold in an online auction, which runs from August 17 to August 25.

Two linocuts created by Jacob Hendrik Pierneef are among the star lots. Both titled ‘Homestead, 1932’, they are signed and dated and carry reserve estimates of between R20 000 and R30 000 each.

The Battiss work, meanwhile, is a screenprint, titled ‘Final Proof’. It is signed and numbered 2/6 and has a reserve price of R3 000 to R5 000.

Also up for grabs is one of Midlands’ artist, Guido van Besouw’s beautiful hand blown glass vases, which has a reserve price of R900 to R1400.

Another attention grabbing lot is a 2013 Royal Enfield ‘Classic’ motorcycle with sidecar. The khaki green vehicle is in good condition and is on auction with a reserve of R40 000 to R50 000.
