Paramedics hand patients to police

-

Paramedics turned over two injured patients to the police after realising they had been involved in a hijacking incident in which one person was shot.

Midlands EMS paramedics responded to a single car rollover on Fort Nottingham Road on Sunday morning.

They found two people, who had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Whilst treating them they discovered that neither patient had any identification and kept changing names.

En route to hospital a vehicle check was done and the parademics were informed that the vehicle had been stolen in Pietermaritzburg.

Midlands EMS said the Prestbury SAPS was notified and on arrival at the Pietermaritzburg medical facility the two men were handed over to police and arrested.

They had allegedly hijacked the car the previous night and had shot one of two occupants in the hand.
