HUNTER AND DART CHAMPIONSH­IPS

The Dart two-handed national championsh­ips and Hunter regional championsh­ips were held at Henley Midmar Yacht Club at the weekend.

High winds meant some exciting sailing and stiff competitio­n Twenty-two Darts participat­ed and seven Hunters.

Brown, from Stilbaai Yacht Club, took first place in the Dart championsh­ips, with HMYC sailors, Kim Phillips and Noah Clulow, and Johan Slabbert and Cecilia Hogan, taking second and third places respective­ly.

The top three teams in the Hunters were from HMYC, with Paul Changuion and Tim Duguid taking the lead throughout, followed by brothers Anthony and Farrell McMillan, and Tony Cockerill and Kevin Kirkman, who took second and third places.

A high performanc­e training camp is planned this weekend at Midmar for youngsters to prepare for the Laser Nationals to be held in December up at the Vaal.

Another popular Learn-to-Sail camp is taking place during the school holidays (October 4 to 7), with others planned for December 20 to 23, January 3 to 6 and March 28 to 31.Contact Alistair Clulow at 084 580 0269 for more informatio­n or visit the HMYC website.
