SAILING STARS

Brothers Noah and Finn Clulow test their skills in the water at Midmar. They were two of 19 KwaZulu-Natal kids to participate in a high performance training weekend at Midmar organised by KZN South African Sailing.

The aim of the session was to help prepare the sailors for the national sailing championships at the end of the year. Skills covered included starts, reading flags, rigging, race rules and tactics.

Craig Millar also gave a lecture on how sails are built and the ideal sail trimming on boats, as well as techniques and sailing fitness.

This week over 20 youngsters will be spending some of their school holidays learning to sail at Midmar.
