APOLOGY TO HUNGER BUSTERS AND ROB ASKEW

-

In the Village Talk edition of October 7 and on page 12, an anonymous reader’s letter was published titled “Hunger Busters Enables the Criminal Element of Howick”.

The publication unreservedly retracts the allegations it contained against Hunger Busters, an organisation that feeds the less fortunate, and volunteer Rob Askew.

Regrettably the reader’s letter alleged that Hunger Busters and Askew “encourages and enables the criminal element” by allowing drug addicts to spend money that would have spent on food, on drugs.

It also alleged that those involved were “lining (their) own pocket with church money”.

None of the allegations in the letter were factual, and Village Talk apologises sincerely to Hunger Busters, Rob Askew and its readers for publishing the letter.
