SCOUTS NEED YOUR HELP!

-

The Cederberg Scout Adventure - a biennial event for senior Scouts from South Africa and other countries – is considered by everyone involved in scouting to be the ultimate adventure on the calendar.

It usually lasts about 10 days, and many Scouts see it as a highlight of their careers.

Deidre Fisher, from the 1st Howick Scouts, told Village Talk: “This event provides unforgettable adventure and fun in the famous backpacking country of the Cederberg Wilderness Area, along rugged, rocky trails.

“The programme combines the best of advanced scouting to provide Scouts with fun and a real challenge, including water activities, rock climbing, the ultimate challenge game, underwater diving, sailing, and much more.”

This year’s Cederberg Scout Adventure takes place from December 15 to 23 and the 1st Howick Scout Group has 12 scouts wanting to take part.

“However, it is a costly exercise to travel to the venue and to partake,” said Fisher, “so without funding, many of these Scouts won’t be able to attend.

“Scouts and their parents will be making a concerted efforts to raise funds for this year’s event, so I appeal to you to please support us at the Howick Prep School on November 19, where we will be selling pancakes.”

Residents who want to support the Scouts on their adventure are also invited to make financial donations using the following banking details:
