Prayer for elections in Mpophomeni
International Workers’ Day should always be honoured worldwide - it is indeed history that should not be forgotten.
The umngeni Local Municipality church ministers decided to celebrate it in great style. On May 1, they had an election prayer for all political party leaders and members at the Mpophomeni Township ZCC Church.
This was a significant prayer since it attracted community members and was graced by dignitaries from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), led by Gugu Memela, the Department of Community Safety and Liaison, led by Colonel Liwani, the Health Systems Trust’s Nhlanhla Zuma, Bonginkosi Ndlovu from the Zenzeleni Project, Inkunzisematholeni led by Mr Nyathi and the Umgungundlovu District’s Sipho Sibisi.
Political parties, including the ANC, DA, MKPA and Rise Mzansi, were also present, as were members of the SANDF.
During the programme, Bishop
Robert Zondi, read a message from the church ministers in which they pleaded for peace and prosperity for the political parties. There was then a joint prayer for the political parties.
Lastly there was a sermon led by Rev Mandla Ntombela, who read a scripture from Hezekiel 22 verse 30: “I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I would not have to destroy the land, but I found no one’.
He made mention that a true leader stands firm between God and the people. Such a person needs to send concerns and pleadings to God and should be trustworthy to God.
Participants thanked the organising team of Pastor P. Ndlovu, Pastor Dlamini, Bishop R. Zondi, Rev. Sithole, Pastor Sithole, Pastor Ngcobo, Rev Ntombela, Bonginkosi Ndlovu, Rev Nyoka and Pastor Khoza.
