Once it’s possible to travel internationally again, post-Covid, where is the first place you’ll be going? Amsterdam. I really love the lifestyle of walking and cycling to get around the city. I’m half-Dutch, and have very special friends and family there whom I have missed dearly. It will mean so much to me to travel with my husband and share with him how I made the Netherlands my own.
At the age of just 17 and “hungry to learn”, Mar ke worked full time as a photographic assistant for four years.
She then moved to Amsterdam to study photography, graduating from the Foto Academie. Aer working in the city as a photographer for a year, she returned to South Africa, and now works in Joburg. A regular contributor to VISI, for this issue Mar ke photographed the remarkable Roger Ballen Centre for Photographic Arts (page 156).
