NATAL IA MOLE BAT SI, POET AND WRITER
Winter is here. How do you plan to celebrate “hibernation season” this year?
I plan to keep warm with an exercise routine that includes power walks (crossing fingers), and a variety of soups while reading or watching movies. I wish I could hibernate in my warm bed all winter, but I know my schedule won’t allow it. Natalia is a queer pan-African feminist poet, writer and cultural worker. She is the author of Sardo Dance (Ge’ko, 2008) and Elephant Woman Song (Forum, 2017), and the editor of We Are… A Poetry Anthology (Penguin, 2008) and Wild (Im)perfections: A Womanist Anthology Of Poems (Penguin Random House/Cassava Republic Press, 2021). She is currently reading for her PhD in performance studies at Northwestern University in the US – and in this issue of VISI, she writes about the concept and experience of hibernation (page 52).
