This week my colleague and I dined on their patio.

For breakfast, I had an eggs benedict with smoked salmon trout instead of gypsy ham. I chose one egg instead of two which brought the price down a little. The plate arrived with a lot of rocket and what turned out to be a sizeable portion of salmon. The benedict was served on a ciabatta sandwich with the hollandaise on the side. It was a very chewy sort of bread. I had difficulty cutting through, so I chose to scrape the food off, leaving me with a crust.

The vegetarian colleague chose to eat an assembled plate of food. She had a slice of rye toast (R6), grated cheese (R10), mushrooms (R10), avocado (R10) and two eggs (R7.50 each). Her portions were large and it looked like a full plate. She said she found the meal very filling. Their service was friendly and efficient. They did omit to offer us condiments with our breakfasts, however.

To drink I had a tall Americano (R18). I am not often impressed by coffee but Green Beans got it quite right. It was balanced, not bitter and did not require too much sugar. The colleague had a hot chocolate which the menu says is made from Belgian chocolate. She described it as delicious with a touch of hazelnut. Both our drinks were served with little chocolate chip crunchie balls that made for a sweet touch and side treat.

Next time I am hoping to try their buckwheat waffle (R20). It is served with toppings like whipped cream and honey (R5 each) and toasted almonds (R10). If you are on a budget, there is a poached egg on toast with wilted spinach on the menu. Green Beans looks like a flexible place. They have wheat-free food available, they are willing to make dishes of your choice with ingredients listed on the menu, they do takeaways for everything and they welcome pets.
