Bar: Tobago’s Address: Radisson Blu, Beach Road, Granger Bay, Waterfront 021 441 3415 Cocktail: Passionate and Mint Daiquiri Price: R65 Ingredients: Passion fruit purée, fresh mint, fresh granadilla pulp, a scoop of ice, granadilla juice and a double shot of Havana Blanco rum TOBAGO’S is a hidden gem of a bar, at a Waterfront venue that is often missed. Barman Heinrich la Meyer says the Passionate and Mint Daiquiri is made in a blender and garnished with a sprig of mint and a slice of granadilla with the skin. It’s served in a tall hurricane glass with two straws.

The fruit flavours flow well through the ice. A whack of mint hits your nose as you sip… perhaps sip a little slower with to avoid brain freeze. The alcohol is masked well, but if you are looking for a “virgin”, that version of the drink is available too.

La Meyer says the drink has been on the cocktail menu for two summer seasons due to popular demand.

Tobago’s is a gorgeous venue, complete with good sea views and a sprawling deck. The colours of the bar are mostly blue and white, in line with the sea views and deck pool. There is live music on the deck on Fridays from 6pm and complimentary wi-fi throughout the hotel.

Tobago’s is open from 11am daily. It has featured cocktails of the month and a new bar platter menu on the way. See www.facebook.com/ radissonblucpt or follow @RadissonBlu_Cpt on Twitter for updates. – Wendyl Martin
