Expect an afterparty fit for a princess

Previously working in politics, Scilla fell into DJing. “My friend asked to play music at her gallery opening.”

Since then, she’s been spinning her picks of blues, country and rock ’n’ roll. Expect to hear the likes of the Beatles, Chuck Berry, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Johnny Cash.

“It’s happy music. It’s the sort of music mothers can dance too and children: like Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry and the Beach Boys. I don’t mix it. I leave it as their art. Who am I to change it?”

Her favourite place to play in the world is a little bar in Tuscany. She started DJing there and it’s owned by four sisters. “I feel at home there.”

The dress code at today’s Queens’ Plate is strictly blue and white.

Scilla is still on the search for her look. “I am trying to find a nice hat. I have a blue dress. Hats are kind of important. I love hats. My dress is knee length. When I DJ I like to be comfortable. It’s a sweet dress.”

Every DJ has to deal with people who want have song requests, even princesses. “What if they come up to me and ask for Gangnam Style? I don’t even have it on my computer. I don’t have it. I refuse to have it. If it’s a song I like and I have it I will put it on.”

In line with her love for things retro, she loves vinyl. It’s how she listens to music at home. She won’t be DJing with vinyl tonight but she will be using a controller. “Vinyl is more manual. It is easier.”

The royal factor of her life does- n’t seem to be a big one. “My parents didn’t explain it. They said I should trust that I’m not better than anyone.”
