Truffle is a new high-end halaal establishment in Green Point that is experimenting with alcohol-free mixes, providing an enhanced dining experience for Muslim and tee-total diners.
Truffle owner Nisreen Ebrahim says the Berry and Citrus Twist is made by layering the ingredients into a glass. It is then garnished with orange zest.
It’s a fruity little drink, with the right refresh factor for a hot summer.
Ebrahim attributes its popularity to its “pretty look”.
She says their mocktail offering has been so popular, it has left her wondering if people know they serve regular soft drinks too.
She describes their menu as contemporary continental cuisine. “My aim was to create a relaxed, sophisticated environment in which one could enjoy a gourmet meal with the bonus of being halaal.”
The restaurant seats about 120, with an area for hire for functions. The upstairs floor seats 30 to 40 guests. The decor is big on fynbos, an ode to the Western Cape.
Truffle’s kitchen hours are noon to 10.30pm on weekdays and Saturdays and 11am to 9.30pm on Sundays.
They have a half- price sushi special all day on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays and from noon to 7pm on other days. – Wendyl Martin
